AI is the instrument. Humans remain the conductor.

LightSource Advisors exists because healthcare and wellness leaders deserve AI guidance that starts with their goals, not a vendor's product roadmap.

Nirav Desai

Nirav has spent 30 years at the intersection of healthcare, technology, and enterprise strategy. He speaks the language of physicians, CFOs, and AI engineers with equal fluency, and that range is what makes the advisory work at LightSource different.

His background includes executive roles in strategy, operations, and marketing for telehealth and wellness companies, and digital health consulting engagements with organizations ranging from Pfizer, J&J, GSK, and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center to independent provider groups. Before that, global product marketing at GE Healthcare and Baxter Healthcare.

Nirav holds an MBA from Darden and a joint B.S./M.S. in Systems Engineering, where the focus was decision support systems, the intellectual precursors to modern AI.

Why this firm exists

Every AI vendor will tell you their product will change your practice. Some of them are right. The problem is figuring out which ones, in what order, and at what cost.

LightSource Advisors is the firm that sits on your side of the table. We don't sell software. We don't earn referral fees that bias our recommendations. We advise on the right AI investments, implement them with you, and stay until the outcomes are measured and documented.

Doctors will not be replaced by AI. They will, however, be replaced by doctors who use AI. The same is true for practice administrators, wellness operators, and healthcare entrepreneurs. The question isn't whether to adopt AI. It's how to adopt it in a way that's practical, measurable, and grounded in your clinical and business reality.

No matter how powerful AI becomes, the tools will be the musicians. The human will be the conductor. Our job is to help you conduct well.

The white space we occupy

Four categories of firm touch healthcare AI. None of them do what we do.

Big 4 consultancies

McKinsey, Deloitte, Accenture, EY. Brilliant strategists. But too expensive and too generalist for practices under $50M in revenue. Minimum engagements start at six figures. Your 4-physician practice doesn't need a 30-person engagement team.

Health IT consultancies

Huron, Chartis, Guidehouse. Deep operational credibility. But they were built around revenue cycle and EHR implementations, not AI transformation. They're catching up, but the DNA is legacy.

AI vendors

Nuance, Waystar, Cohere Health. Good products. But they sell their own software, not strategy. They advocate for their product, not necessarily your optimal solution. A vendor can't credibly tell you to buy a competitor's tool.

Regional health IT firms

May have bolted an AI practice onto an existing revenue cycle consultancy. They know the local market. They don't have genuine AI depth. The difference between understanding AI concepts and deploying AI systems is significant.
